It's Destash time :D

Happy Holiday weekend, all! :D
Today, in between bouts of doing housework, I was able to take a batch of Destash pictures for posting in my Destash shop (http://www.DecadenceDestash.etsy.com)
I added a whole bunch of Ephemera (some of it vintage!) and calendars :D
Come take a peek!

Blankets galore :)

Greetings from Baby Blanket Central :)
I have been crocheting my fingers off lately, making baby blankets. My niece needed a new "magic blanket" (aka "woobie" or "goo-ga") which I made from mossy green Moda Dea yarn, so fluffy! My new niece or nephew to be is getting what I call the Auntie Heather Special - every new baby that comes to my family gets 1 rainbow wool blanket from me and I buy the hand spun hand dyed yarn from a friend of mine, which makes the blanket that much more special :). The last 2 "Specials" were simple Granny Squares (red in the middle, working its way out to purple along the outside), which work perfectly in the car. This new blanket will have 12 squares, each color will be its own square, then all joined together and topped off with a non-gender-specific ruffle along the edge :)
This baby will also be getting a blanket in "nursery colors" (this time the colors are cocoa, blue, yellow) and mom may be getting a cocoa colored chenille shawl :)
I also have a blanket that I have been working on sporadically (because the pattern is a little complicated, so I really have to concentrate), but I think I need to get more yarn for that one :)
I am also thinking about making a granny triangle shawl, which I just found a great pattern for. I'll let you know how that works out!
In other news, I finally seem to have tamed my yarn stash (I think *lol*). I separated out the wool from "everything else", which was daunting, seeing that the wool fills an entire (overflowing!) tub, while the "everything else" almost fills the tub it is in. Then I have a small container of special baby yarn (like the Moda Dea and a little bit of angora). I am happy to say that this experiment seems to be working well because I was able to easily reach into the stash and pull out exactly what I needed for my niece's "magic blanket" replacement :)
Other than all that *wink*, it's all quiet here :D
Hope all is well in your world!

My Etsy Store and Ron & Fez!

Hello, faithful readers! :) I am sorry (again!) that I have been away for so long.
David (the bf) returned from Mexico (far away from the swine flu!) last week so we have been very busy!
In other news, last week I called in to my favorite radio show, Ron & Fez (noon-3, XM 202). It seems that one of the staff members, "East Side" Dave MacDonald, didn't see the point in giving his wife (a pregnant mom of a 1 year old) a Mother's Day gift (!). His reasoning, it seems, is that she's not *his* mom and the kids can give her gifts and cards when they get a bit older. So I called in, mentioned that I have an Etsy shop and would love to *donate* a Mother's Day gift for his wife :)
The another staff member contacted me later, got all of my info and told me to expect an email from Dave. Dave thanked me for the offer of a gift and gave me the address.
Long ago, when I started my Etsy shop, I did jewelry. So I picked one of the (imho) beautiful and funky necklaces that I had created, boxed it in a repurposed Altoid tin (so he wouldn't have to wrap the gift) and sent it along :)
I mentioned in my cover letter that I also do baby clothes and plan to send along a baby gift once the baby is born.
I was promised a mention for my Etsy store. I am SO excited :)
I have relisted a group of my cigar boxes (because I mentioned them in the original call) and jewelry (because that is what I sent along). I can't wait to see what happens!
I'll keep you posted :D

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile!
Had to get the bf ready to go away for a month (which, at times, took up the entire house). Then I spent 2 weeks quitting smoking, spring cleaning (still in progress) and crocheting for the La Leche League conference on April 17 & 18 (Farmington, CT Marriott, if you are interested in attending)
All is well, but still extremely busy!! :)
